DAD'S FINAL GOODBYE?
October 1998
My brother and I were on our way out of Las Vegas after tending to arrangements for our Dad's remains (we did not view them, of course) after his suicide by gunshot at the Excalibur.
We were driving his car and following my uncle (Dad's brother) and aunt. They got way ahead of us, and we made a pitstop. When we got back out on the road, we weren't out very long, and I just happened to glance up at the starry night, but I noticed that there were no stars! There in their place, was a huge triangle. It was absolutely silent. There was one white, one red, and one green light, one on each corner.
Now, I thought it might be one of the stealth that we hear so much about. But this was a lopsided triangle, with the longest edge and next longest on the sides and the shortest one in back as it travelled. I don't know whether it was an aircraft or not, but it was silent, and it was smooth, and it blocked out the sky like there was nothing there.
My brother looked up just as it disappeared over the car, since we were headed east to west and it was going south to north. (Approx.)
Now, I must mention that my Dad was Air Force, as is my brother now, so aircraft are certainly no mystery to me. My grandfathers were both military, and growing up around planes is not unusual. I also know there are some bases, and there was the infamous Area 51 in Nevada, so I can't claim that I had a definite sighting of any kind. It could have been a new craft the military had been testing, but why the lopsided angles? I for one have never seen anything shaped exactly like that. I guess if it had been angling for a landing, that would explain it's unusual geometry, due to perception, but it was going straight as an arrow.
Since then I have wondered, was my dad really despondent over the break up of his 3rd marriage, or did he give himself over to the government to participate in activities in which he will never be heard from again? Is he still alive in a secret bunker somewhere working with all the "secret craft"? He was in the command post for most of his career, and it would be natural for him to go back to tracking aircraft like he did before his retirement, I would think.
The amazing thing is, the crematorium we utilized was right down the street from that place where the people who were being transported to work everyday for Area 51 took off. I recognized it from the TV stories about how all the planes are overly ambiguous as well as the passengers form of dress.
I will have questions about that period in time for the rest of my life. And I will always have the smallest fantasy that my dad had been watching us since we got to Las Vegas, and was in that craft overhead saying his final goodbyes.
When we finally got to Los Angeles where my uncle lives, we saw a shooting star. That was so appropriate for the moment. My dad always said that after what he saw in Vietnam, he believed in aliens and not God (not good, but that's what he said). Maybe he had information we don't? All I know is, I told him several years back, being a UFO buff, that if he knew things, would he please tell me, and he said he did, and then made the joke that if he told me he'd have to kill me. But he was serious about knowing things, and I asked him if anything ever happened to him, could he please write what he knew down in advance to be given to me after his demise. Of course, that didn't happen, so either he really knew nothing, or maybe he's still working around what he knew! (I know, a daughter's false hope. I can dream, can't I?)
Thanks for listening.
