DSRT Report

Desert Skies Research Team at Groom Lake, Nevada

In spite of rumors and at least one feature story published In a national magazine. Desert Skies Research Team is pleased to report that flying/testing of UFOs (spacecraft?) has definitely not ceased at Area 51.

On January 6, 2000, DSRT members and two Japanese tourists from Tokyo, stationed on Groom Lake Road, witnessed two "flights" of an airborne object. The first occurred at 8:25pm and the second happened at 4:20am, the next morning.

The first sighting was of a white object that just... appeared. It hovered in place, above the top of a ridge of the Groom Range, slightly to the left of Groom Lake Road. After about a minute, its brightness and/or size slowly increased. Then, its intense white color turned to red and it sped off to our left at an incredible rate of speed. Considering that there was no gradual acceleration between full stop and gone, our consensus was that this was pretty fantastic.

The second sighting was the appearance of the same white object, in the same place above the ridge tops. This time, it traveled from right to left, slowly and sort of "wobbling" up and down. When it reached the end of its travel, it turned bright red, and sped (again at a high rate of speed) diagonally (left to right), to down behind the ridge over which it had first appeared.

What has ceased is the use, by the roving guard patrols, of the infamous white Jeep Cherokee vehicles. During the two days and nights DSRT was at Tikaboo Valley, we were checked once and chased once by new, 1999-2000, "champagne" colored, short-bed, extended cab Ford pick-up truck(s).

I will miss the Jeeps. The Fords just don't seem as intimidating.

FOOTNOTE:

We accomplished the above observations in extremely cold weather. Camera batteries that were fully charged went low in a matter of minutes or refused to power cameras, at all. The fluid-head on our video camera tripod froze and was completely inoperable.

Although having the UFO sighted perfectly in the viewfinder of our best camera, DSRT's photographer had to quickly grab an older, completely mechanical 35mm camera, that doesn't require batteries for its operation, and shoot hand-held to get whatever pictures we could.

We did, however, get plenty of pictures of the Japanese tourists, the next morning!
