It was in the summertime. I remember because it was about 8 pm and, even though the sun had gone down, it was still a little light out. my girlfriend (TR) and I were driving back to Reno from my parent's house in Fallon. We were having a family get together because relatives from out of town were there. It was just getting dark and as we passed the small Fallon Municipal Airport and I noticed that there was a plane with an extremely bright light coming in for a landing. After a few minutes of driving I noticed that the plane didn't land and that it was heading west towards Reno...the same direction that we were going.
When we got to about 10 miles west of Fallon I again noticed that light and it was not that far ahead of us. When we reached Hazen (about 20 miles from Fallon) TR decided to drive because I was tired. When we got out of the van to switch places I looked up and there was that light again but because it was darker we could see it better. It was orange with a faint blue on the bottom. It sometimes looked like a blue mist or smoke was coming from the bottom. It looked like it was hovering over Fernley, which is about 10 miles to the west. We wanted to get a closer look so we quickly sped towards Fernley. By the time we got to Fernley the light had moved west about another ten miles and it was just going over the top of the mountains. We lost track of it as it went over the top.
While TR was driving I was scanning the skies still hoping to get a better view of it. We kept driving until we got to the Tracy Clark Power Station. There I noticed that we had over taken it and were a little ahead of it. It was to our right and TR pulled over and we got out to watch it. It was going in and out of the ravines in the mountain, hugging the ground as it moved west along the mountain. It was traveling very slow but the whole time it was wobbling like it was dangling on a string.

After a few minutes TR said that it felt like she was being watched and she got scared and climbed back into the van on the driver's side. The whole time there was a lot of traffic and I was wondering why no one else was stopping to watch like we were. After about 15 minutes, it made it to the left of our view. All of a sudden it turned off the orange glow somehow and I could see that it was rimmed with rows of multi-colored lights which were all pulsating differently. It then slipped out of sight, over the mountain, to the north.
I got into the van and we continued west towards Reno. As TR drove I still watched the skies for anything else. To our left on the other mountain range I noticed what looked like another one. It was going in and out of the curves and crevices of the mountain and then it too all of sudden headed north.
We got to Reno in about another 15 minutes and went straight to my friends house to tell him what we saw. They were just getting ready to go watch a band at one of the local nightclubs which they were late for. The band started at 11pm! It had taken us about 3 hours to get to Reno which is only 65 miles from Fallon.
But that's not all. Both TR and I remember that when we got to Reno things were a little weird. Reno seemed really foggy yet we could see the stars clearer than ever. It looked like there were UFO craft everywhere yet no one else could see them but TR and I. Everything around us had taken on a surreal essence to it. It was hard to judge time. The next day after a nice long sleep everything went back to normal.
